Vault City Brewery Tour Experience
Like Willy Wonka opening his factory doors, we are finally launching brewery tours! We've no Oompa Loompas, and we have far greater health & safety policies too, which I'm sure you'll be relieved to hear.
Our brewery has had its roots in Portobello, Edinburgh for several years now, with over a million litres of beer being brewed on site this year alone. We're excited to open our doors and show you where the magic happens on a unique brewery tour experience; with tank tastings and 2 beer flights - one of your choosing, and another as part of a sensory flavour mixing class for £35 per person. Tours start at 11am every Saturday/Sunday, and the experience lasts around 2 hours in total. The vouchers are valid for 12 months from purchase. Attendees must be 18+ to visit the brewery. What to Expect
You'll start by meeting our guide at Porty Vault, our taproom on Portobello High Street, for a warm welcome from your host & an introduction to Vault City Brewing. We'll take a short walk to our brewery situated 5 mins away, although worth noting there are a few short stair cases to climb. We'd also recommend bringing a jacket in case the weather is bad (or dreich as us locals might say)!
This is where your guided tour will begin, around our state of the art production site, where you'll learn how we make our award-winning modern sour beer - from raw ingredients to the brewing process, fermentation, dosing & finally; packaging.
No brewery tour would be complete without a tank tasting, where you'll get to sample our beer right from our fermentation vessels - as fresh as it comes! Plus you may get to sample something previously unreleased depending on the date of your visit!
Once the guided tour and tank tasting are over, we'll take a quick jaunt back to Porty Vault where we'll put your new-found knowledge to the test at Sour School: an immersive experience where you get to experiment with our base beer and various flavour combinations using fresh fruit purée, juice and extracts to create your very own Vault City beer.
You might well create the perfect trio of new flavours, but if not, you'll also get a flight of Vault City beers to enjoy from our extensive tap selection. Your ticket also entitles you to 15% off everything in Porty Vault's takeaway fridge on the day of your booking.
After all that beer, you'll have worked up an appetite, so don't forget to ask about booking a table for our pop-up kitchen with Bundits, serving up hand-crafted steamed Hirata Baos & Asian-influenced side dishes.

How to Book
Once you've bought your brewery tour gift card, you can book your visit by emailing brewerytours@vaultcity.co.uk or calling Porty Vault on 0131 609 0810 (open Wed-Sun). We'll be taking bookings from 20th January onwards and the tours will run every Saturday & Sunday at 11am.
