In February last year, we ran a flash sale to help us secure a warehouse that we hoped would become our forever home. Since then, we’ve poured everything into making that dream a reality.

Over the past 14 months, we’ve reinvested every penny of revenue, taken out loans, received support from Scottish Enterprise, and kept pushing forward. But it’s no secret — the industry is facing tough times, and funding is harder to come by than ever.

The loan secured against our mortgage ended up being less than we originally planned for, and the funding support is only reimbursed after we’ve paid upfront for equipment and installation. As an independent business, covering those upfront costs is incredibly challenging.

That’s why we’re asking for your support again, offering big discounts and reward tiers to customers, wholesales, importers, bars and bottle shops, to help us finish the journey and turn this space into everything we know it can be.

We already have a bank loan secured against the mortgage for the warehouse we bought last year.

Beyond that, we’ve had plenty of offers from private equity firms — but staying independent is a choice we’re proud to make. Remaining in control means we get to make decisions that reflect our values — like paying the London Living Wage, running a 4-day work week, and brewing the beers we want to drink (ever tried a Double Deep-Fried Mars Bar stout? We’re building something that reflects our community, our creativity, and our commitment to doing things differently — and independence is a big part of that.

It’s a route that’s worked well for plenty of breweries over the years — though not always so well for the investors. We want to be completely up front: we need cash to help finish building our new brewery.
